Sarah's Jungle!
I'm a Veterinarian! I love animals and everything about them... especially reptiles!!!

Reptiles are tetrapods, amniotes - animals whose embryos are surrounded by an amniotic membrane - and members of the class Sauropsida. Today they are represented by four surviving orders:

* Crocodilia (crocodiles, gharials, caimans and alligators): 23 species
* Sphenodontia (tuataras from New Zealand): 2 species
* Squamata (lizards, snakes and amphisbaenas ("worm-lizards")): approximately 7,900 species
* Testudines (turtles and tortoises): approximately 300 species

This is a good video, to see the fun side of reptiles!

History of classification

From the classical standpoint, reptiles included all the amniotes except birds and mammals. Thus reptiles were defined as the set of animals that includes crocodiles, alligators, tuatara, lizards, snakes, amphisbaenas and turtles, grouped together as the class Reptilia (Latin repere, "to creep"). This is still the usual definition of the term.

I was working with a group of doctors, nurses and residents to administer medicine in the Amazon and to advice literally thousands of Brazilians every spring as they travel from one remote rainforest village to the next.

My name is Sarah Fingers, I'm a veterinarian, I work as a nurse in the Amazon. I'm enjoying the plants, trees, culture and people from here... especially learning more about this place and every mystery it holds.
