Most people who come to me to buy a chinchilla from me have already studied books and internet websites to find out about these beautiful exotics.
Members of the rodent family. Their ancestors homeland the cold barren wasteland of the Andes. What a struggle their ancestors had. Almost hunted to extinction at one point just for their fur. It takes over 100 chinchilla pelts to make a fur coat. With so many synthetic furs abounding why do fashion houses still parade their models in real fur?
To my mind there is no need whatsoever to do so. However it is not for me to tell you all what to do. You must of course decide for yourself.
Please stop a while. Browse the pages here and also hop to my other site if you need some advice. There you will find an extensive index of many aspects of chinchilla care, management, feeding and also a members message board on which you may care to leave a message. I also have a message board for chinnie problems, tips and many more. Breeders list, vets list, indeed more than may be mentioned here. So sit a while and browse.
You are welcome to visit my home and see my chinchillas. If you email me I will send my phone number so that we can arrange a visit. Not everyone comes to buy. Some future breeders mererly come to see how we breeders manage our chinchilla breeding lines. How we keep track in our book of each and every chinchilla we have. All details are carefully kept in the pedigree records register.
Rescue /rehome chinchillas
If I have the space I do take in and rehome chinchillas. After I give them a health check I isolate them by keeping in my home. I cannot take the risk of having infection reach my own chinchillas.
Most of the chinnies I take in are from people whom through no fault of their own have had a change of circumstances and can no longer keep their chinchilla. When I am satisfied the chinchilla is healthy and well I then let it go for a donation fee to a suitable home. I do check the person it is going to, they must have knowledge of chinchillas before I will let the rescue chinchilla go to them.
My most recent rehome chinnie was Maggie, a beautuful violet. Her owners had searched the internet looking for a suitable placement for her.
They emailed me and were satisfied with what I answered. They then travelled all the way from Liverpool area to deliver her to my care. After keeping her for a few weeks to find out what sort of nature she had and so on. I then decided she would be an excellent chinchilla to breed with.
I myself breed only pedigree animals. However I had a friend, named Matthew who lived quite near. He has just recently started breeding chinchillas. Indeed he has bought quite a lot of my chinchillas this year to get him started.
When he saw Maggie, he decided he would take her even without a pedigree. Maggie was a very beautiful chinnie and is now a happy chinnie as she is no longer lonely now that she has a mate to keep her company.
Chinchillas For Sale
I regularly have a surplus of chinchilla and have to sell some to make space, other wise I would not have a manageable amount.
All my chinchillas are my pets, they all have names and many have been with me for years. If you wish to have an update on what I have for sale email me. I also have a waiting list for some of my mutations. Many of the babies are reserved when they are just a few days old. A small deposit is now required if you wish to reserve one. This has come about because of timewasters. They say they want to reserve one. I then turn down genuine buyers and lose a potential sale. Recently I decided to ask for a reserve deposit and the timewasters have stopped. I hope potential buyers understand why this had come about.
If there is a special mutation you are waiting on I will phone when they are born to let you know they are available. Again I must stress that it is first here who has the chance to buy or reserve.
